I was born on November 11, 1744 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. I was born to William Smith and Elizabeth Quincy, I also had four siblings one brother and three sisters, I was the second born. But I guess before I go into more detail about my life I should introduce myself.

I am Abigail Adams, I am very confident with myself and the things that I bring myself into. Even growing up I was stubborn and only did the things that I believed in. Since I had poor health during my childhood, I didn’t get the education that I needed and I wasn’t as smart as other children and my friends. Although my father believed in an education and loved learning and reading and teaching he bought my siblings and I a large library where I began spending most of my time and also where I learned almost everything I know. My father and I share the love for reading and learning and I loved reading poetry, drama and history. Soon after I had spent most of my childhood in my family’s library I decided that I needed to improve my reading and teaching skills, and by the time I was an adult, I was one of the most well known best-read woman of my time.

On October 25, 1764 John and I got married and lived on his farm in a small town called Braintree in Massachusetts. But after John’s law practice started going downhill we moved to Boston and soon we had our five children. Abigail, John Quincy, Susanna, Thomas, and also a stillborn that was born in 1778. I also had to raise all six of the children by myself because John was usually on business trips and out to different states during our marriage because at this time he was President of the United States. Although he was rarely home John and I had a sturdy relationship and I thought of him as not only my husband but also my best friend.
