You Have No Right

Young women in America have the freedom to choose many things every day that make up the pattern of how their lives will end up. She can choose who she marries, who she socializes with and even whether or not she believes she is pretty enough. In all of these situations, she can also choose how she wishes to fix these hiccups in her daily life. By simply calling her plastic surgeon and making an appointment she receives a consultation and a date to make the changes that will ultimately better her life. However, in a similar but even more serious situation, a woman cannot change the fact that her body will be so at risk that it will be deformed, sick and could possibly even end in something more serious such as permanent health issues or death. While she is able and even encouraged to take care of her body in most other situations, her choice in getting an abortion could result in judgment, hostility and possibly even alienation from family members simply because she has a different view on what is and isn’t morally acceptable. How a woman chooses to take care of her body should not be judged or made illegal by the state. An abortion is a woman’s choice that she makes regarding her own body and should not be interfered with by anyone other than herself and her doctor.

While there are several different reasons that an abortion may be desired by the pregnant women, they seem to only be seen by the general public as “for their convenience”. In many situations women who get are abortion are portrayed that they simply did not want the discomfort of childbirth, that she did not want the inconvenience of parenthood or that she simply “was not ready”. Unfortunately, this is a gross misconception of why an abortion is usually sought.
