Abstract
Computers have become an essential part to any small business in order for the business to be successful. Information technology plays a vital role from providing customer service, keeping customers information, to the most important part of a business, which is to do billing. This paper I will discuss how information technology supports small business organizations and what are some of the improvements that can be made.
Information Systems Support
Information systems have grown more than fifty percent in the small business sector; businesses have come to realize that it is more cost effective to have computers to do billing, inventory and financial managements of the business. In this paper I will talk about the advantages, disadvantages of doing business through computers. The business process of a small business is first having a computer to enter all your data to keep track of billing, inventory, and customer information. Second is to have a ecommerce to sell your products online though your website. Finally is to take payments and ship your products to your customers.
There are many advantages on how information systems support the business process. Computers have given the entrepreneurs tools to go out and be a successful business without having to hire a army of people to do certain tasks. For example accounting it use to be that business owners had to go to a accountant with all their receipts and billing information to keep take of payments send bills to customers and do their taxes. With computers there are many programs that automatically keep track of all this information and go beyond that to even make checks for your employees. The names of these programs are QuickBooks, turbo tax, and Microsoft office.
