Thesis statement: Having abortions affects women both physiologically and physically.

People seem to think that only minorities and individuals from low income families have abortions however this is not the case. Women who have abortions vary in range of races, social and economic backgrounds, and racial and religious groups. “Statistics show that in the year 2000 the abortions percentage was as follows: 57% of women had some college education, 88% were from metropolitan areas, and 57% percent were low-income”(National Abortions Federation

2003) According to the National Federation (2002) Women between the ages of 15 and 19 account for about 19% of all abortions; women 20 to 24 account for another 33%; and about 25% of abortions are obtained by women who are 30 or older. Older teenagers and young adults have the highest abortion rates, while women younger than 15 and older than 35 have the lowest

There is also many myths that comes with abortions. Some believe that women use abortions as a form of birth control and that they regret having an abortion after it is done. Half of women who have had an said that they used contraception when they became pregnant. No form of birth control is 100%. It is natural for a women to experience some sense of sadness of terminating a pregnancy do to medical reasons. There may also be some regret by those who got pregnant before they were ready to care for a child. But those that are more likely to experience extreme feelings of sadness or guilt are those who didn’t have a strong support system to begin with.( National abortion Federation 2003)

There are different types of abortions. Only three are legal in the United States. The type of abortion is determined by how far along in the pregnancy the women is.
