1. Attendance is a must

This might come out as the most obvious one but then again nothing beats being in your class to take down notes and understand first hand what the professor is explaining.

2. Master Your Professors

Every professor has a different personality & system for running classes, so as much as possible try to learn what the professor wants. Try to know your professor’s likes and dislikes & their pet peeves.

3. Stay Organized

College is all about multitasking, and you can easily get overwhelmed with due dates, team meetings, and other demands on your time. Use a planner or another organization system & stay current with submission dates.

4. Use Time Wisely

Even if are the most organized person in the world, time can be one of your biggest enemies. Tackle harder work first. Break larger projects into smaller, easy-to-accomplish pieces. Do not overextend yourself and Work hard to play hard.

5. Become "Noteworthy"

Another reason for attending class is recording the class notes. Be an active listener in class. Rewrite or organize notes on your computer outside of class.

6. Make good use of suggested reference materials

Professors assign textbooks for a reason - it’s to supplement the lectures and discussions from class. Read all assigned material. Know what’s critical and outline the main parts.

7. Enhance your writing skills

College requires a lot of writing assignments. Organize your thoughts first before writing. Always write a draft first, rewrite, edit, re-write, edit, re-write then have someone read it.

8. Establish a routine study habit

There is a silent rule in developing study habits & that’s studying at least three hours outside of class for every hour in it. Study early & often then develop & practice good study habits.
