Effects of Religion

Religion may affect people in many different ways because of the teachings and belief they are raised with. This is very true with the Muslim faith. While most Muslims are very kind and polite in general there has been a major setback to the Muslim faith over the past 15 years. One good example of this is the bombings of 9/11. While this was an act of terrorist and not of a religious faith they announced it was done for Allah and they were carrying out Allah’s wishes. This is just a cover to try to lend meaning to their despicable crime they committed. In my experience most Muslim faith people are very humble and down to earth. Another affect of religion on society is laws against gays and lesbians. It is said in the Bible that marriage is between a man and a woman but that is being challenged today with the activist fighting for rights they should have. I am a Christian personally and do not believe in homosexual relationships but I also feel people should be able to make their own choices that affect their lives not ours. I think they should be given the same privileges as a married couple and be able to be married under the terms of the law. It should not be under the terms of the Bible which is where this argument often goes. Where is the separation of church and state? The laws were written that a marriage is a union of two people and should stay that way. These above ways are the effects that religion has on society today.
