(a) Agree with the faculty member: There is large number of autonomous departments being functional in the university and they have their own mechanism for automation. None of them interact with the other and there is no information flow across them:

1. Examination process: Automated using off the shelf software

2. Library: Automated using freely distributed Library automation system

3. Daily cash transactions: Automated using accounting software

Had there been an implementation of a MIS for the university which has a decentralized database, the problem of localized information will grow. It will become more and more difficult to generate reports about departments from one place.

In MIS there is no centralized database. Ever department has its own Information and the needs. So in my opinion, the faculty’s demand for an integrated ERP is well justified, as it will provide numerous advantages to the university like:

• Browser based technology with a completely web based /browsing solution

• Comprehensive student records management – From the time of registration till the time of student graduates

• Academic Performance Evaluation for Students Throughout Sessions

• Fee, Scholarship, Loan & Grant management

• Generation of transcript in the required format of the university for the students

• Different types of reports & also dynamic report option

• Exporting of various reports to MS Word, MS Excel, PDF, for mailing, sharing and processing

• Scheduled – Automatic Back-up on Network/Sever

• Highest security - User Wise, Module Wise, Menu Wise & Sub Menu Wise
