Cancer is a deadly disease and with Breast cancer being the second leader in cancer it can be treated if caught in time. According to the W.H.O. (World Health Organization) there is an estimated 1.2 million new cases of breast cancer diagnosed each year.

A study was conducted in 1991 among African American and Caucasian women, it was found that 18% more of African American women passed away than those among the Caucasian women. Although incidence rates for breast cancer is consistently lower among African American women (than in their Caucasian counterparts), the study found by 2004, death rates from breast cancer had increased 36 percent higher among African American women than among Caucasian women. “Watson” (2009).

According to breast cancer statistics, about 1 in 18 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer in a course of a lifetime. In 2011, an estimated 230,480 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed, 2,140 were men. Men diagnosed with breast cancer are 1 and 1,000. ("U.S.Breast Cancer Statistics", Oct 30, 2012).

The changes in the health care market concerning breast cancer are simple we have to look into how the cost of health care to cure a person with breast cancer and with the cost of the nation’s health and pharmacy benefits rising there was going to be healthcare cost cut or increased, more so increased. The healthcare cost for a person with breast cancer has been an increasing cost over the years. We all know the cost for cancer treatments can be a financial strain even with health insurance.

Why changes will help the population and affect health care is simple also. If and individual would take precautions and get tested for cancer early they have a chance to beat the disease and get it controlled before it gets too far and become a stage III or stage IV.
