A. The first thing I would do to import the data from the .csv file I would open a new excel workbook. Once in the workbook, under the data tab, under get external data, click on from text icon and select the file to be imported to excel. I would need to rename all the cells that contain “R” to “RS” and “W” to “WS” to make the data consistent.

B. Since we need to analyze which sales are growing more, the approach that I would take to organize the data and to analyze it would be first of all to filter the data by month. In order to do this I would highlight all the data and create a table from the Insert tab. Once the data is in table format, then I could filter by month in ascending order. The subtotal approach can be used by, adding all the retail sales and the wholesale sales side by side by month using the sum function. By doing this, we will be able to know which area has the highest sales.

C. To visually represent the comparison of the retail sales and wholesale sales per store for each year I would need to analyze the data and select a column chart. It will show the total sales for each area (2 columns per store) each year. Since there are three stores there will be 3 sets of 2 columns each year, for three years. The columns will be side to side to easily reflect the difference in sales.

D. Once the workbook has been completed and I need to share certain information I can do one of two things. One option is to hide the worksheets that I don’t want anyone else to use. The bad thing about hiding worksheets is that if other people are good with excel they will have an option to unhide them. Personally, I would copy the worksheets that I do want to share into a new workbook and share the new workbook.
