Decision Making Process

The most recent major life decision I have had to make was deciding to relocate from Phoenix Arizona to Northern Virginia in May of 2012. This was a difficult decision to make and required a lot of thought before a final decision was reached. There were several factors occurring in my life at that time which prompted me to think about relocating.

In March of 2012, I had been attending school for almost two years. I had been out of work for almost the same amount of time. My relationship of six years had become strained and was falling apart due to the stress of not being able to not only contribute to household expenses but also being unable to do simple things like take my significant other to dinner or a movie. When we did get to enjoy a movie or dinner, it was always her treat. I felt worthless and became depressed. Throughout the previous couple of years I had noticed a few incidents that led me to question my significant others faithfulness to me. I then realized that respect was gone from my relationship and something had to be done. I needed to take control of the direction my life was headed in.

After talking with my significant other, we decided that some time apart was needed and I moved out of our house. I moved in with a friend of mine and slept on his couch while I continued to search for employment. A part of me was hoping to find a job so I could get my own apartment but another part of me just wanted to pack up my things and move away. I called some members of my family, including my children, in Northern Virginia and they all told me how much they missed me and wished I would move back home. This got me to thinking about how much I missed my family and I decided to look into what my moving there would entail.
