Abstract

This project was conducted to find out how well Maverick’s Poker Room in Port Huron, Michigan is meeting the needs of its employees. Fifty surveys were completed by the employees of Maverick’s. The survey consisted of a list of eight human resource services. Listed on the survey is Performance Appraisals, Recruiting Process, Technical Training, Incentive Pay Programs, Employee Assistance Programs, Award & Recognition, Flexible Work Schedules, and Supervisory Training. Each of these services was rated on a 1-5 scale, 1 being the least and 5 being the most. There are two categories that the employees were asked to rate, the level of importance and the level of satisfaction. Performance Appraisals and Technical Training had the largest gaps between the level of importance and the level of satisfaction.

Introduction

The human resource department implements may services to assist an organizations employee in many areas. How does a company know that these services are working properly and if the employees are satisfied with the program? The HR department could conduct a survey on the programs to see if the level of importance and satisfaction is equal. After the completion of the survey HR would know whether there are gaps in the levels of importance and the levels of satisfaction. If there are large gaps the human resource department may need to improve on some the programs it has to offer.

Fifty surveys were disbursed and completed by Maverick’s employees. On this survey there were eight areas that employees were asked to score on level of importance and level of satisfaction. Upon receiving these surveys’s back the HR department has determined that there are two areas in need of improvement. Performance appraisals and Technical training both scored higher in levels of importance compared to levels of satisfaction. These two areas have been reviewed and recommendations have been made.
