Life as a student can be vexing. On a daily basis, I find myself bombarded by an onslaught of uncertainty and insecurity. There seems to be no end to the flood of drama, homework, and pressure. In this vortex of confusion, mistakes are inevitable. I constantly strive for perfection, but in reality, perfection is unattainable. However, I have come to realize that mistakes are acceptable, because there is always a lesson to be learned and a way to mend any situation.

Now, if there’s one thing you can count on, it’s me having an eraser handy. I’m currently sporting a large, white soap-looking eraser that I’ve taken a liking to. It has served me well in times of absentmindedness, providing a surface for doodling or just something to fiddle with, but whether it is big or small or white or pink, there’s no prejudice when it comes to erasers. These friendly little implements are always there ready to save you. For me, spelling has always come as a burden, so I cannot account for the shear number of times an eraser has saved me in an English pinch, and I won’t even begin with all the math errors. Anyways, I will never forget how much I owe erasers. Consequently, I believe in erasers.

Moreover, an eraser can stand for so much more than just a means of correction. It represents a means of redemption. The eraser serves as a reminder that mistakes are bearable and, in the end, there is a solution to even the most difficult of problems. With the knowledge that exoneration is attainable, I find myself free to step forward and try new things. There is a courageous lion slumbering within everyone that can be awoken by the mere remembrance of an eraser. Without these shackles of fear you can soar to immeasurable heights.
