How to disengage easily

Most people, including my wife, find it difficult to disengage from an activity because most of us believe that our success is directly proportional to our hard work. The more we work the more we expect to be rewarded. We also believe, in most cases, that life is what you make it. In other words, we are convinced that you can make or break your life. We consider as true the thinking that you can choose either failure or success. Such kind of world view makes it extremely difficult to disengage from an activity or from a worry that may be troubling you through and through. If you place the responsibility for your success upon your shoulders it is not easy to disengage effectively from what you will have started.

A good candidate for disengagement is someone who believes that they were born for a specific purpose that will be fulfilled whether they like it or not and God is in charge of the entire process. A person who is convinced that their life is already planned out is able to disengage easily because to them nothing can stand in the way of their calling. If you consider yourself to be a foolish person and your calling requires you to be wise, God will make an arrangement to make you wise so that you will fulfil your purpose. If he doesn’t make you wise he can still bring your challenge to the lowest shelf so that you can reach out to it. Either you are lifted to the level of your desires or the desires are brought down to your height. For you to start living a life of disengagement you need to realize that God has a comprehensive plan for your life which neither the shrewdest schemer can change nor your foolishness can shift you out of that plan. Nothing will change for you – foolishness nor calculative ability. There is no mistake that will take away your opportunity to achieve what your calling will give you. You may be alert or passive but what is destined for your life will come to pass in the fullness of time. If it doesn’t happen...
