Improving Organizational Performance

Airdevils’ is a professional aerial stunt organization, which provides services for exhibition activities, marketing promotions, and film industries. Airdevils’ tricks, including methods from ballooning, gliding, hang gliding, skydiving, sky surfing, paragliding as well as microlighting. The organization founded and managed by Celsey Evans and has been in operation for 15 years. In 2007, the organization began experiencing issues with job satisfaction, performance, and complacent behavior. Celsey made a decision to employ the Dream Teamworks, a group of organizational psychologist to analyze Airdevils’ structure, its diverse workforce, and its policies. Dream Teamworks will propose procedures that could make the organization more flexible. The team of organizational psychologists will also analyze the personalities of the key employees and create high performing group. Finally, the team will address what measures to take to alleviate the stress among the employees. Celsey strategy is that the Dream Teamworks will identify the issues and offer solutions so Airdevils regains its competitive advantage.

Situation One: Cause of the Decrease in Job Satisfaction

In September 2007, Celsey realized the plummet in the quality of performance was not caused by the unfamiliarity among the team members as suspected two years before. To get to the heart of the problem, Celsey administered the Job Description Index (JDI) and the Job in General (JIG) survey among her employees to gauge their job satisfaction. The stunt performers were the most dissatisfied group. Celsey also read the company’s blog to find more evidence of dissatisfaction. Though it was difficult to determine the identity of the author of the comments on the blog, his or her comments disturbed Celsey.
