A Virtual Look at MTC Technologies

Organizations share goals of profitability and success, but can be very different in the way they operate. The types of cultures that organizations employ are typical to the type of work they do or the locations that they serve. They communicate by different avenues in order to best reach their employees and customers. And they utilize technology in ways that are inherent to their business. Most businesses are like snowflakes; similar patterns with different nuances.

What made MTC Technologies different from many organizations is that it was a large enough business with a small company mind-set. It had employees scattered in remote areas of the world, but all employees received a card on their birthday and a present from the President on their wedding anniversary. It was a special place to work. Although MTC Technologies lacked strong process implementation, it was a virtual organization that used technology to reach a scattered workforce.

Culture Club

The culture in most government contractors is that of a pluralistic society. That was definitely the case in the culture for MTC Technologies. There were several smaller areas of expertise that people within a large society tend to maintain their unique culture identities and their values, behaviors and identities are well accepted by the wider society or culture. The minor groups of people participate fully within the dominant society while still maintaining their cultural differences.

Channels of Communication

Face-to-Face

Nothing beats face-to-face communication and technology will never replace it. Employees prefer getting information from direct supervisors and in one-on-one settings.
