1. ABSTRACT

A dual channel regulated power supply is used to supply an adjustable variable output voltage to an electronic circuit or device that must be operated within certain power supply limits as a regulated power supply is one that controls the output voltage or current to a specific value. The output from the regulated power supply may be alternating or unidirectional, but is nearly always DC voltage(Direct Current). The type of stabilization used may be restricted to ensuring that the output remains within certain limits under various load conditions, or it may also include compensation for variations in its own supply source. DC power supply which are designed to convert high AC voltage from main supply electricity to a suitable low voltage supply for electronic circuits and other devices. A power supply can by broken down into a series of blocks, each of which performs a particular function:

Figure 1.1 Block Diagram of a Regulated Power Supply System

Based on Figure 1.1, an AC powered unregulated power supply usually uses a transformer to convert the voltage from the wall outlet (main supply) usually to a lower voltage. Then, to produce DC, a rectifier is used to convert alternating voltage to a pulsating direct voltage, followed by a filter because the DC output is varying, comprising one or more capacitors, resistors, and sometimes inductors, to filter out (smoothing) most of the pulsation or to reduce the ripple voltage. A small remaining unwanted alternating voltage ripple is unavoidably superimposed on the direct output voltage. Regulator is an electronic circuit that maintains an essentially constant output voltage with a changing input voltage or load current. Therefore, regulator is used to...
