1. Tamira has made a dreadful mistake in the accounting business. She should have been keeping up with her data over the first few weeks of the year in case there are any emergencies such as this. Because she has gotten behind and there is no way to extend the deadline, she needs to be honest with her supervisor that her numbers are estimates or that the data is incomplete. If she has other people in the accounting department, I would have suggested that she ask for their assistance on the project. She could have stayed up late putting the numbers together as well instead of using random estimates. What she did can get a company in a lot of trouble very quickly as we have seen in the past few years. If I were her supervisor, I would keep a closer eye on her for a while to make sure she stays up to date.

2. If I had been in Tamira’s position, I would have done as much of the accounting as I could have in the limited time I had. It is much more important that the data be accurate than to just have it all done. The president of the company can do more with less data that is accurate than all the data that is false. A person would also have more job security if they do an accurate job than a halfhearted one. With the job market how it is, it is important to stay ahead of your competition because your company will find someone else to do your job better.
