Business Ethics Across Cultures

Around the country, many nations have created their own ethical standards. With each of the following countries listed, you will become acquainted with the ethical perspectives of each country, along with how each differs or has similarities to those ethical perspectives of the United States of America. Each article will give a brief summary of the individual countries business ethics.

When venturing outside of University of Phoenix, I found some very informative information regarding the Chinese and their business perspectives. The University of Baltimore (home.ublt) the article that I found made mention of many different levels regarding the Chinese and their business perspectives, as well as their unethical behavior which can be viewed as code of ethics for business operations.

One point in which I found I agreed with was, “Different cultures have different rules of conduct and therein lies the issues addressed in this paper. That issue is: understanding the roots of ethics across the two cultures”. (home.ublt, pg 241) This point in mention, it is certainly true, we cannot expect all countries to have the same ethical perspectives when they are very different in cultural beliefs. No two countries will or can be made to assimilate into what any other country is.

One prime ethical perspective, One Child Policy, which was introduced in 1978 and initiated in 1979 of and by The People’s Republic of China, and still exists today. This policy was created to illuminate over population, by allowing families to only be allowed one child per family, by doing so would “control and engineer societal development and human reproductive behavior”. (wics, pg 50)
