Human Subjects for Medical Research

Some people say that human beings or parts of their bodies should be used for medical research; however, I think people should not be subjects for that kind of study. Scientists potentially see them as a commercial product which creates an inadvertent effect that damages their personal freedom from the research. In addition, there have been not enough laws to take care of the problems until now. For example, Einstein, one of the most famous scientists in human history, had his body cremated according to his will; however, his brain is still kept and studied by other scientists. Although his family allowed the scientist to use it, Einstein did not know about it. What if he never wanted the scientists to use his brain for experimentation? In the current biotechnology era, an attitude toward the human body has changed. For biotechnology delving, parts of the body, such as organs, blood and genes are viewed as materials. It has become too widespread because of using human parts in research can also be a means of making money. From this perspective, we should think, ‘Who is the owner of the body?’ and ‘Who has taken care of the interests of the subjects?’ New attitudes toward the human body should be considered.

Biotechnology’s disadvantages have been tolerated because of these benefits. If we focus on getting good results too much, we can lose sight of the negatives results. For example, ordinary people usually lose more than 200 hairs every day and fluids such as blood and semen are constantly being producing. Therefore, the research using these body tissues can save the lives of others and can be used as powerful evidence in cases including unsolved murders. Also, the cures to some incurable diseases through stem cell research have been found. Furthermore, many infertile patients have been able to have children because of these kinds of studies. However, people usually do not care about how the doctors can study by using the...
