Corporate Social Responsibility as a competitive advantage in International Business.

Abstract

This paper pretends to dig in the fact that an Organization that incorporates Corporate Social Responsibility, leads to obtain sustainable competitive advantage over time, allowing the company to survive in today's globalized world, and stay current providing long term benefits and results. The CSR is not a new concept; it appears that to observe the economic and social changes within the globalization process, in which a new concept of business visualizes that, to respond to the expectations that the society and the market does to the company. This process takes a series of rules in voluntary form which apply commitment to the community and its surroundings. This new paradigm which is introduced to the management, gives a company an edge to be able to compete in the new globalized market.

Corporate Social Responsibility as a competitive advantage in International Business.

Given the current globalization of the international market and its demands, it has been giving greater emphasis to the organizations to participate and involve in acts of social responsibility. At the same time these organizations seek to profit and have a competitive advantage that facilitates better strategic positioning, to integrate Corporate Social Responsibility into their business properly.

But what is exactly the concept of CSR, there are a lot of definitions but the most precise one is according with Ness (1992) CSR is a strategic decision whereby an organization undertakes an obligation to society, for example in the form of sponsorship, commitment to local communities, attention to environmental issues, and responsible advertising.
