Short Essay 1- Hamartiology

The problem of evil is a very serious topic, it is also a very hard topic to explain and understand. As human beings we have limitations, physical and mental limitations. Our finite minds cannot completely comprehend this vast topic “the problem of evil”. But this does not mean that we cannot know anything about evil, why there is evil in the world, how did evil come into the world, if there is a loving God why does he allow evil to exist. As Christians I believe we should be able to answer these questions, we should be able to give an answer using reason and logic, 1peter 3:15-but in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

There are a lot of different kinds of evil, but it can be broken down to two which are moral evil and natural evil. These are two types of evil but there are very much connected to each other. This is because natural evil is an outcome of moral evil. To explain very simply moral evil is simply doing bad things. (Ex- lying, stealing, killing, rape) and natural evil can be defined as natural disasters. Natural evil is not due because of an angry God who likes to punish people. They are direct results of moral sins. The world we live in is no longer a perfect world, like God created it; it is broken and imperfect because of Adam and Eve’s sin.

The problem of evil is that it is inheritance. When God created this world, He made everything perfect and good. When God created Adam he was good, and he was also given free will. God gave man freewill because he wanted us to have a relationship with him. God had given Adam everything, but commanded him not to do one certain thing, which was not to eat the fruit form the tree of knowledge. But when they disobeyed this commandment, they were no longer sinless. Since God is holy and is righteous and perfect. They were...
