Based on my group members’ strengths, I decided Oscar would be the best fit for the Sales
Representative position. As a salesperson, it is essential for the candidate to have the “go-getter”
type mentality with the ability to have a high level of sales and marketing knowledge related to
the product. All five of Oscar’s signature strengths stood out to me as someone who would be
excellent for the sales position. As a maximizer, I know that Oscar will never settle for the bear
minimum and shoot to strive for excellence in his job. Given that a sales role is highly
performance driven, being a maximizer and becoming excellent at sales are ideal for the job.
Because a sales representative must know the product inside and out, Oscar’s strengths as a
learner and analytical ability will help him to be successful in this position. He will constantly be
determined to learn more not only about the product but the customer and the industry he is
working in. Whether learning more about the process of the sale, what the clients want or need,
or simply how to be a better sales representative will be crucial in doing well. By being
analytical, it will help him on the job when pitching to potential clients who are skeptical and
need more evidence or data. This could help him “prove” to others what he is claiming is true.
By coming off as analytical rather than disingenuous, it will allow him to do well.
Focus is another key component of being in sales. Often times, individuals in sales lose sight of
the key goals after attempting to come up with all sorts of sales tactics and strategies. Because
sales can be stressful when things are not going in your favor, it is important to stay focused and
keep priorities no matter what happens. Lastly, Oscar’s strength in significance will go a long
way in the sales role. He wants to stand out, be heard, and known which are all attainable
through sales. By having a fit like this, it would be hard not to consider Oscar...
