Module Review

1. Are the form and use of information and decision support systems for managers and business professionals changing and expanding? Why or why not? Yes. The DSS is expanding and using more information to show managers change in sales about all levels of the sales from the salesperson to the product design. I feel this is to better business and to better please the customer.

2. Has the growth of self-directed teams to manage work in organizations changed the need for strategic, tactical, and operational decision making in business? Yes. I feel it has majorly changed the strategy, tactics, and operational decision making processes in business. I feel with self-directed teams the manager does not oversee the employees like they use to, now the manager is used more for operational decision making in the business. I feel that in this new tactic the business can better by spending less time with employees having to talk with management.

3. What is the difference between the ability of a manager to retrieve information instantly on demand using an MIS and the capabilities provided by a DSS? The MIS uses supporters to put in information in advance to give management. The DSS uses information throughout the system to give the management an outlook on all processes of business. In my opinion DSS is a better system.

4. What kind of user training should an organization provide to new employees before they start working? I feel that organizations should provide on the job training and systems training to new employees before they begin the job they are hired for. I think this will help all levels of business in the organization to work together in similar tactics.

5. Why has prototyping become a popular way to develop business applications? What are prototyping’s advantages and disadvantages? Prototyping allows for the application to be worked with finding bugs and flaws....
