Smarthinking's E-structor Response Form

(Your marked-up essay is below this form.)

HOW THIS WORKS: Your e-structor has written overview comments about your essay in the form below. Your e-structor has also embedded comments [in bold and in brackets] throughout your essay. Thank you for choosing Smarthinking's OWL; best wishes with revising your paper!

*Strengths of the essay:

Hi, Jason. I’m Sam H., and I’ll be working with you on your proposal. I think that you’ve done a fine job addressing a solution to your problem.

You say, ”I suggest that AMSA-121G invest in a program that physically shows the employee a reference guide on how to fill out paper work and how it’s submitted. This will reduce cost and reduce to confusion of the paper work and mitigate the need for a resubmit.”

This specific explanation helps me understand what you want to do. Nice work!

*Jason 2845310 has requested that you respond to the Main Idea/Thesis:

Memo readers are busy, and purpose statements help memo readers identify the main point or points of the memo quickly and upfront. Think of the purpose statement in a memo like the thesis statement in an essay. The purpose statement offers the readers a preview of the main points of the memo.

Here’s an example of a purpose statement:

The purpose of this memo is to address my writing process, my research, and my solutions for project #3.

Per this purpose statement, the reader knows that the writer will address three points in their memo.

Your purpose statement should also address the tasks of the assignment.

Let’s look at your instructions: In this assignment, you will select, analyze and define a workplace issue in one of four areas: training, policies, marketing or production. You will then write a two-page written proposal.

Can you write a purpose statement for your memo that presents the reader with the points of your memo and addresses the tasks of the assignment?
