Who is the primary audience?

Explain why that person is primary in context of the case. Who makes the decisions?

The primary Audience which would be the decision makers is the Plant Managers. They are primary because they are in charge of getting the Purchasing Executives to report the information to Vice President of Purchasing

Persuasive strategies for Primary Audience:

I used basic strategies of identifying with the audience. I explained to them that I was not the enemy, only a new member of the Dashman Family.

I also used variation in my tone and language to try and connect with them as well as to be assertive about the required meeting.

Who is the secondary audience?

Explain why that person is secondary in context of the case. Who makes the decisions?

Following the hierarchy analysis, the secondary audience would be the Purchasing Executives. They are the secondary because they are following orders enforced by Plant Managers.

Persuasive strategies for Secondary Audience:

I used the basic strategy of playing down self-interest and went with the angle to unify the plants.

I also used the basic strategy in the sources of power. I tried to portray the respect, knowledge and punishments. I gave them my credentials in the opening so they would know that I once had their jobs. I also used the threat of termination to “persuade them’ to take me seriously about this mandatory meeting.
