1. Describe all assumptions seen in any of documents provided in the case study.

For full credit, provide AT MINIMUM: four to six assumptions held by Kelly; six to nine assumptions held by Pat; two to three assumptions held by Cliff; two to three assumptions held by Chris.

a. Kelly - 1) assumed that Pat did not have the necessary experience due to the last job in which he had at a cereal company. 2) Thought that Pat did not know anything about quality control. 3) Assumed that the company as a whole would not have the staff or resources to complete the project due to previous layoffs in the past. 4) Thought all features of the new scanner could be developed in the time frame given.

b. Pat – 1) Assumed that the new product would be just an easy addition to the product line. 2) Assumed due to communication and questions brought up that Kelly was against him. 3) Assumed that the project at hand could be completed in time by outsourcing. 4) Thought that since everyone was not in agreement with him that those who disagreed were against him. 5) Assumed the client would be happy with whatever was presented due to the company’s history of being a leader in the industry. 6) Thought that by having a meeting all issues would be resolved on the spot.

c. Cliff – 1) Automatically assumed that due to the success that Pat had in his previous field, that he would have the same success in this field even though they are totally different. 2) Assumed everything that was being asked could be done with the budget given. 3) Assumed that the staff would all work together with no conflict.

d. Chris – 1) Thought that it would take much less time than it actually would to introduce the new product. 2) Assumed that it would just take adding a few tweaks to put the iscanner out to retail clients.
