Outline for the White Paper on New Application Paradigm
Environment Scan on current applications:
* Categorize current applications into legacy applications, new apps, and mobile apps. What kind of applications and why they need new paradigm?
* Management perspective and organizational constraints behind “New Application Paradigm”. Mostly coming from Gartner and Microsoft work
* IT trends, need for new paradigm which maximizes new inventions in multicore, manycore and cloud
Different kinds of architectures will be presented briefly and the issues will be discussed (3-tier, n-tier, pure Object oriented, component based, SOA - EDA, WOA, ROA and WS, cloud enabled SOA). This will build the case for the need of New Application Paradigm
The following aspects of issues with Current Applications Architecture will be studied:
* Portability
* High availability & Reliability
* Scalability
We shall come up with the name for the new application paradigm. This will address all the issues listed above with portability as the main priorty.
Islands of solutions:
* Portability across multiple platforms such as cloud, mobile devices and operating systems, or is interoperability "the" solution
* Creating a hybrid “Eller” model from Enterprise architecture, Cloud computing and Service oriented architecture, which addresses the issues, created due to the combination of these three.
* The list of Project management and organizational changes in roles, which would support or force the New Application Paradigm for the future application.
* Use of suitable development methodologies like Agile, Kanban etc. for the New Application Paradigm.
* Define the ideal granularity of services and recommendation to manage these services efficiently.
* Multicore, many core
* Cloud -> lack of parallel structures
* RAID like High Availability and Reliability for services
Finally we shall discuss the...
