I. Background:

Biochemical and Nuclear weapons are not a new addition to this world. The earliest documentation of a biochemical attack was during the Spartans reign in Greece in the 400’s B.C.E. The Spartans used Sulfur fumes to attack their enemies as they approached. Some main kinds of biological weapons are Anthrax and Botulinal Toxins. Some examples of chemical weapons are Cyanide, Tabun, and Mustard gas. Nuclear weapons, however, are a different sort of weapon. As opposed to odorless gasses, nuclear weapons are very explosive. The countries directly involved with this topic are Russia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, U.S, U.K, China, DPRK, and France. Nuclear weapons are a threat to the rest of the world because it causes some countries to have too much power. These specific kinds of weapons can do an extraordinary amount of damage to a country’s population and security.

II. U.N. Involvement:

The U.N. has been involved in this topic by creating the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons which was created to prevent weapon technology to spread between countries. The U.N also created the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty which bans all nuclear explosions in the countries that have signed the treaty. Some organizations and committees that have been involved in biochemical and nuclear weapons are The World Court Project, The International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War International Association of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms. The Non-Aligned Movement was proposed by the International Association of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms and it only helps the fact that if certain countries have such powerful weapons to their advantage, they have the ability to completely annihilate some of the smaller weaker countries.
