Gallup Strengths Assessment Right up

Talent multiplied by investment equals strengths. This is based on the book Strengths Finder 2.0 of which, upon completion of the online strengths assessment, I received the top five strengths: context, harmony, communication, adaptability, and restorative. Based on the book, strengths are defined as the ability to consistently provide near-perfect performance. This is achieved by having a natural way of doing or feeling something, talent, combined with learning and studying or practicing achieved or new skills, investment. These principles are the basics when it comes to determining a person’s strengths.

“You cannot be anything you want to be – but you can be a lot more of who you already are.” This is the authors modified quote of the saying “you can be anything you want to be, if you just try hard enough”, of which the author calls a misguided maxim. I found this quote to be one of my favorite parts that I have learned and been able to apply from this book because I feel that I can relate to it more so than the original saying. I have figured this out throughout my college career with many of the classes I have taken and some of the activities I have partaken in throughout the years. For example, I have realized that I will never be great at accounting, no matter how much I study for it and work with accounting majors. But I can be better at accounting than I already am by continuing to study hard and working with accounting oriented friends. I have come to realize that some people just have a natural talent with certain things while others do not. I invest a good amount of my time for accounting, my toughest course this semester, but I just do not have the talent to become an expert in this field.

I feel that my number one strength, context, is a good representation of me. Context is heavily based on history and how what happened in the past has an effect on what is happening now and will happen in the future....
