Organizational change should be used to improve the performance of companies and the people within those companies. This is exactly what Gene One has intended on accomplishing within the next 36 months. They are a multi-million dollar company that entered the biotech industry in 1996 with groundbreaking technology that abolished disease in tomatoes and potatoes. Although business is good, they realized that in order to keep up with demand and annual growth targets that they would have to become a public entity. There are many approaches to organizational change therefore it is imperative to choose the one that is appropriate to obtain the highest amount of success within the organization. This move would require change in vision, attitudes, perceptions, employee performance, and teamwork. With the right leadership skills and continued recognition for recruiting exceptional talent, Gene One has the potential to continue growing its business at an astounding rate to become an industry leader.

Don Ruiz, the CEO of Gene One has a lot of potential as a young CEO and he has a long way to go. As the leader he listens to all of his board of directors, and they are very important people to him because they were with him at the beginning of the transformation of Gene One, and they are the reason why Gene One is a very successful business today. There are a lot of decisions that Don has to make especially making his company public in the next three years, but he has an outstanding team to help him make those decisions. But the decisions Don has to make, may cause him to have to let go of some of his important team members. As the CEO, Don needs to set key priorities.
