Audience Profile

Jeff Clarke is my primary audience and that makes this communication internal. The key demographic to remember is that Jeff’s grandmother is sick. This indicates that he his family oriented. My audience is knowledgeable in the topic since the topic is about their personal actions. My audience has indicated by leaving a voicemail message making request for time off that formality is not preferred. I expect that Jeff will react in a negatively to being denied the time off. I believe Jeff cares about what his needs are and not the needs of the company. I want Jeff to understand that the company has given him as much help as it can. Fellow employees have pulled his weight and now it’s time for him to step up. The benefit from this message for my audience is the knowledge that they are not being fired and that the company cares about its employees. In order for a secondary audience to understand what is going on a brief summery will need to be provided. The medium that I will choose to handle this will be print. It will allow me have a record of the conversation between myself and the employee.

Re: Denial of emergency leave request

Mr. Clarke this is your fourth request for emergency leave in the last two months. Your previous requests were granted based on availability of other employees to cover your shifts. This weekend the hotel is booked to capacity and all leaves have been granted. While the situation with your family is understood your request is denied.
