The Cockerel Road

Sometimes a special place with deep memories, even though the environment may change, can evoke memories of the past and even memories of a special person. There is a special place which I reckon daily but I cannot make it to revisit it. The place elucidates memories of the good times we had. This makes me believe that we are the only people who know about the existence of the place. We refer to the place as “The Cockerel Road” which is a walking paths found at the edge of New Century Square. The path makes one of the outstanding beautiful sites to visit. When I dream of Cockerel Road, I dream about good old days we spent at the place.

Cockerel Road was a place that catered both for our short and moderate walks. The place was relatively flat with several hillocks on the northern side. We explored the meadows sparkling with different varieties of flowers and contained a stretch of majesty of old growth trees. The place was caressed by the emerald green moss which covered the southern parts. This reinstated my fallen ambitions and hopes in life. The wooden steps in the place were our common sitting place and an incredible setting where we could hug with passion. The place was ever deserted and gave a humble time for our privacy.

Four summers ago, we were deeply in love with each other. It seemed as if nothing mattered as long as we were together. At that time, I had just returned from a half-a-month trip to Singapore and we couldn’t wait to see each other to share what had happened between us in those days. After I had returned home, we decided to go to our usual place, New Century Square. Memories of that day are still fresh in my mind. The fireball-like sun hang in the blue sky and clouds burnt by the sun had vanished without a trace. The wind and air stuck and the trees with sparse leaves stood listlessly. We did not have any destination in mind and we sauntered along the paths sweating beneath...
