Being a Successful College Student

Some students never learn effective study habits in high school. When, the student doesn’t learn any effective study habits, the student may struggle through their first semester of college. A student should figure out ways to make his or her study habits better. The poor study habits can cause the college student to struggle, which results in unhappiness. However, if the student became connected by joining clubs, music groups, or sports that will help the student make more friends whole balancing his or her life. The student should find one activity that suits the student and which his or her schedule allows them. These are just all some simple ways of being a successful college student; there are many more that you can become a successful college student.

For a college student to be successful, they should set goals and establish priorities. The student has a definite reason why they are in college, and they know what it is. The first step in choosing goals is the student should start by choosing their values. The values are what you hold near and dear to you. They can be principles, standards or beliefs that you find most worthwhile. Second, the student to analyze their values, interests and skills on things such as, what are some things that might have influenced their thinking and behavior, what are some skills that they might have learned maybe from a full- or part-time job. There could be a connection between the students activities and skills and their values. Third, the student should make realistic goals such as short- and long-term goals. For the student to choose a realistic goal they should choose a logical steps toward the goal, take each step and fill out the details, and do the plan and make sure they keep the plan close by. The student should establish priorities and stick to a schedule to manage their workload, schedule and reduce stress. Some time management tools that the student can use is making a task...
