Assessment Task 1

1.1

Each member of the Tafe Team (i.e. Teachers, Head teachers, First Aid Officer) is assigned responsibilities depending areas of strength and roles they excel in. Head teachers for example are required to manage a particular branch/campus, so it's vital that these individuals have sound organisational and management capabilities.

1.2

A happy team is more likely to produce positive results, as opposed to an unhappy team. In my role as a Manager, some of the actions I could take to foster a happy, strong and united team of Head Teacher could be social events and activities, encouraging open lines of communication and praising staff through positive reinforcement.

1.3

While a team is a group of people working together to achieve a goal, it is imperative to encourage individual development. Team members in the group might have differing perspectives on long-term personal goals i.e. Head Trainers might want to become Managers.

In my role as a Manager, I need to be aware of such ambitions and provide Head Teachers with the pathways to achieve desired goals.

1.4

Some of the strategies I would use to ensure open and honest two-way communication between my immediate manager and the members of my team would include; disseminating pertinent information to team members when it becomes available, promoting a culture of transparency amongst all levels of the Tafe Team and give team members the opportunity to provide feedback to upper management.

Assessment Task 2

Over the last 3-4 months, the state of the Tafe has been in a steady decline. As a Manager and senior member of the team, it is my responsibility to investigate the drop in quality and performance and notify the Program Manager of possible resolutions to the issues at hand.
