“Riordan Manufacturing (RM) was founded in 1991 with patent awards from processing polymers into strong plastic substances” (UOP Course Materials, 2010). The production of plastic beverage containers in 1993 made the companies first manufacturing plant in Albany, GA show growth. Since that first plant RM has expanded with a plant in Pontiac, Michigan, that produces custom plastic parts and Hangzhore, China which produces plastic fan parts. The Department of Defense, beverage makers and bottlers, and appliance manufacturers are a few businesses RM has contracts through. This plan will review over the following terms for the company: enterprise and product liability, international law, tangible and intellectual property, legal forms of business, and governance.

Corporate Compliance Overview

RM created a compliance plan tailored to plastic design specifically. Business practices and employee conduct are set by high ethical standards. Integrity is a must for management to have in order to successfully lead others. RM creates an environment where ethical and compliant business practices are of top priority. “RM’s corporate Compliance plan outlines their mission to: ensure awareness and compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations to the workforce including federal and state programs, fraud, waste and abuse, ethics, privacy, and security requirements and corporate governance.” (UOP, Course Materials, 2010). Sound principle and recommendations found in the Committee of Sponsoring Organization of the Treadway Commission (COSO) are used to mitigate enterprise risks and show the importance of internal control.
