Body composition is the amount of tissue, fat and water that makes up your body weight, having excess body fat is becoming more of an issue and more common and it comes with health risks. Carrying excess body fat can lead to obesity which is being 30 pounds or more over weight. Excess body fat is linked to major physical threats like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. For example, if you're obese, it takes more energy for you to breathe because your heart has to work harder to pump blood to the lungs and to the excess fat throughout the body. This increased work load can cause your heart to become enlarged and can result in high blood pressure and life-threatening erratic heartbeats. Changing patterns of food consumption, such as rising carbohydrate intake also contribute to obesity. Physical activity contributes to the epidemic of obesity as explained by new patterns of physical activity in adults and children. Labor-saving technologies have greatly reduced the amount of physical activity that used to be part of everyday life. Finally, the widespread availability of electronic devices in the home has promoted a sedentary lifestyle; particularly among children are factors that have a big influence on the obesity problem.

As bad of a problem as America has with obesity, we also have a rather large problem with people being obsessed with how they look and getting eating disorders which also causes health problems. One eating disorder is anorexia nervosa; it is a disorder that is complex and has three main features. Those features are that you refuse to maintain a healthy body weight, the fear to an extreme point of gaining weight, and a not normal body image. Some of the health problems associated with it is low blood pressure, slow heart rate, bone loss, heart failure, or kidney failure. Anorexia causes many physical problems.
