I wish to apply for this scheme because I’m a very passionate individual, who always eager for a challenge. Applying for ‘Access-To-Bristol’ will enable me to gain first hand experience on what it’s like to study at university.

During my time at Fairfield High School I have discovered many concepts that allowed me to grow as a person and learn, learn more about myself and what I want to do in the future.

In year 9 I sat my first ever GCSE German exam because I lived in Germany for six years and I knew the language fluently. Luckily I got an A* in German at the end of year 9. Having this GCSE at a young age I learnt to translate from German to English and English to German. I now know three different language fluently, English, Somali and German.

In year 10 I joined the school netball team, I thoroughly enjoyed this and it was great fun. Being part of the sports team has taught me to be self-motivated, to work as a team to achieve one goal and to always be passionate about what it is I want to do. To always push myself to my best potential and ability, was that one key aspect that I gained and maintained from joining the netball team.

For my work experience I worked at a pre-school nursery. I gained a lot of knowledge about children and people skills; I discovered what I really want to do in the future and learnt to socialise with children. This experience gave me the chance to gain more knowledge about what it’s like to work everyday for a week and have responsibilities.

I currently volunteer at ‘Claremont School’, I work with young disabled children. I work there every Wednesday morning and I love it and really enjoy it. It’s great to experience something you’ve never done before because it helps me as a person to gain understanding about other people’s lives.
