Communication and Collaboration Strategy Paper
How do I learn? What is my learning style? How can I use this information to make the best use out of my college experience? These are no doubt questions that many students on similar journeys have asked themselves over the years. Self exploration is a fundamental part of the college experience, and my answers to these questions will be explored during the course of this paper.
I must admit, when I first saw this assignment I though it was a joke. 'Learning styles', I thought,' I just learn. What does a style have to do with it? Either you can learn the materials, or you Cant.', but as I did the foot work on this assignment I quickly learned that I was very wrong, and that I have dominate ways in which I learn. As an Organizer, I learn through the organization of my materials, notes, and assignments. It is important for me to fully understand the parameters of an assignment as well as to be engaged in a stable learning environment. This works well with the second style of Thinker. This style requires me to meditate on the material I've taken in, and to put it into action through problem solving. I found it interesting that this style also requires me to at times work alone, and even find opportunities to do so, especially since the third style of Giver requires me to study with others in order to reinforce the materials in my mind. I don't think these styles have a lot to overcome in order to work well together, I think it’s mainly a matter of organization, and knowing yourself. Some projects will require you to be a giver and work in a group setting, helping others will helping yourself. Other projects will require you to work independently of others in order to make the most of the information, while others still will require you to develop a well organized and thought out strategy to guarantee completion.
