Design and construction of wind tunnel

The open circuit wind tunnel was selected because it is a better proportioned wind tunnel. It is suited for better performance in both aeronautical and automotive testing.

Eight pressure probes are used to collect the pressure reading. Inside the test section the pressure probes are attached with the eight planes of the octagonal. The location of the pressure probes varies with the test section depending on the test article. The pressure probes were mounted in to a glass manometer to protect them from inclination There was no inclination angle. We have used eight pressure probes for taking various reading to study on lift, drag and lift coefficient.

A wide range of aeronautical half-models, including aerofoil section, streamlined bodies and bluff bodies also can be accumulated. Half models do not allow to test at high Reynolds number, but also ensure that the point of resolution of the balance can be the same for both aeronautical with having a balance elevation frame, to allow aeronautical tests to be performed at the tunnel centerline.

Specification:

* Parallel, steady flow in working section.

* Velocity Variation in the working section area of the jet to be less than 0.1% deviation from the average (Subsonic wind tunnel testing,MIST,2008).

* Angular variation in the working area of the jet to be less than 0.1 degree deviation from the average flow angle( Subsonic wind tunnel testing ,MIST,2008).

* Target working section velocity is 29.67 m/s(107 kmph) to allow representative Reynolds number to be achieved.

* Target working section turbulence intensity of 0.1% to allow high quality aeronautical research to be undertaken.

* Six component, underflow, vertical-centre balance.

Constraints:

* An inlet section with specified curve for better flow performance

* A glass made test section

* A rectangular-circular shape diffuser

* An...
