Review Ch. 10 and 11 of your text, then complete the following:

Provide at least three freshwater and three ocean water resource challenges by filling in the following table. Then, respond to the question that follows:

Freshwater Resource Challenge | Description |

Sewage | Waste water from drains or sewers theaten public health |

Disease causing agents | Wastes of infected individuals spreads infectious diseases |

Organic Compounds | Landfills, agricultural runoff, industrial wastes, contaminates ground water and surface water and threatens drinking water supply. |

Ocean Water Resource Challenge | Description |

Non-point source Pollution | Agricultural runoff likes pesticides, fertilizer and livestock wastes |

Coastal development | Developments that destroy important coastal habitats like salt marshes and man grove habitats. |

Point Source Pollution | Water that is dumped into the ocean without being treated. |

In 200 to 300 words, respond to the following: Choose one fresh or ocean water resource challenge and describe in detail why the issue has become a problem and how human activities have contributed to the problem.

The water resource that I want to write on is Organic compounds. This issue has become a bigger problem in so many ways such as all the landfills which contaminates ground and drinking water. The landfills that are dug next to running creeks and then the trash and wastes fall into them pollute the waters for fish and the other animals. Of course, people need places for their wastes to be put but it would be wiser to make landfills away from water supplies. I also would like to point out that with cities having sewage drains on the sides of streets that this threatens the health of the public.
