I Want a Wife

In “ I Want a Wife”, Judy Brady says that wives usually do everything for their husbands and children. First of all, wives provide economic support so that their husbands can go back to school. Wives arrange and pay for the care of children while husbands are studying. However, when husbands graduate and get a job, wives will quit their jobs without any doubt to be a housewife. Moreover, wives do take care of family’s physical needs. For example, wives should track all the doctor and dentist appointments for the family. As for a wife, she ought to keep house clean, and make sure family members’ personal things are in the proper place. Wives also need to clean, iron, mend and replace family’s clothes. Necessarily, wives do grocery shopping, prepare the meals, and plan the menus. Wives cannot complaint about their duties, but they sometimes need to listen to husbands’ complaints about school life. Wives take care of husbands’ social life as well. If the husband invites his friends to have fun, the wife certainly keep house clean and cook special meals in order to make friends feel comfortable and enjoyable. Wives do babysitting arrangement, such as feeding, sleeping and studying, when husbands are studying or having guests. What’s more, wives do need to understand husbands’ sexual needs. Wives will react passionately and eagerly if husbands need sex. Birth control could be a problem and it is obviously taken into account by wives. Wives are not jealous if their husbands find another female to be wife. At that time, wives take responsibilities of children so that husbands can be free. In short, wives have heavy burden on family life, and they have to think about all their husbands’ thoughts.
