Resistance to modification has been acknowledged as one of the central features that influence the success of organizational change, including new technology inventions, new policies and new organizational structures. Almost all, but not all of major business change efforts fail due to the fact that resistance is the little recognized but a critical significant contributor to that failure. Spector (2010; 9) argues that, “not all employees greet change with equal enthusiasm”. In this script by making reference to numerous key themes of this course, critical and complex discussion accounting for the statement above is going to be deliberated and how these organizational subjects can be combated.

The above cited statement made by Spector (2010; 9) was true as not all employees would welcome change with warm hands and equal interest. Change always depends on the leaders which in this case is management, who is initiating that strategic renewal of the organization. Strategic renewal refers to a modification of an organization’s strategy with the concentration of regaining sustainable competitive advantage (Spector. 2007; 2). Spector (2010: 11) argues that, managers can unconsciously create resistance by the manner in which they influence change. Strebel (1996) states that employees and organizations have joint obligations and mutual obligations, both detailed and implied that state their relationships. He calls these agreements as personal compacts, corporate change initiatives, whether positive or sensitive, alter their terms. Unless managers define new terms, with proper meetings and motivate employees to accept that change, it is impractical for managers to anticipate that employees will fully buy in that change that is going to modify their status quo.
