Concierge

Ø The concierge is available to answer any guest inquires regarding the city, events, and attractions. This individual will provide exceptional customer service to all of our guests and will support other departments including Sales, Front Office, and Bellman/Van, as needed.

Ø In hotels, a concierge assists guests with various tasks like making restaurant reservations, arranging for spa services, recommending night life hot spots, booking transportation (limousines, airplanes, boats, etc.), procurement of tickets to special events and assisting with various travel arrangements and tours of local attractions.

*What is the difference between Concierge Service and Front Desk Services?

Ø Front desk - handles issues with the room (price, logistics, etc.)

Ø Concierge - assists with all matters pertaining to your location (resources near hotel, directions, arranges transportation, tours, etc.)

PORTERS (concierge/lobby services)

*The porter's department comprises a large group of uniformed staff, including:

Ø Head Hall Porter (bell captain/lobby services manager)

- is in charge of all the uniformed staff in the front office, and normally works from a desk in the main lobby.

- greet all new arrivals

- give directions

- call taxis

Ø Doormen

- the organization of baggage handling for both arriving and departing guests.

- open car doors.

Ø Porters or Pages (bellboys)

- run errands and take messages for both the hotel staff and the guests,

- carry bags too and from rooms.

- generally keep the lobby clear, neat and tidy.

Ø Driver (car jockeys)

- take guests to and from airport or railway station.

- park the guest's cars.

*The following are some of the duties and services which they conduct:

Ø control of the uniformed staff.

Ø close liaison with the front office manager and other departments.
