Floor Plan Site Survey Data Sheet

Use the tables to gather the data necessary to analyze each of the five floor plans in the Floor Plan Site Survey exercise. The information gathered in this assignment will assist you in your final project.

Conference Center

|Explain the major features of this floor plan. For example, are there large open spaces, large walls, cubes, or offices? |

|This floor plan includes major features large open spaces with converferences rooms, a break room, and bathrooms. Close to the data|

|center are concrete walls, the elevator, and stairs. There are a lot of walls, and two vending machines in the break room. |

|Identify areas of this floor plan that may present issues when designing your network. Why will these areas present issues? For |

|each area identified, what can you do to overcome the issue? |

|The large space could present a RF signal issue which can be overcome by adding multiple AP’s to reach the breakroom, and to the |

|switching room. The concrete walls, and stair wells could also be an issue, but would also be solved by adding more AP’s with an |

|omni directional antenna. |

|According to your site survey, is the data center an ideal location for the wireless access point? Would you place the access point|

|somewhere else in the building? If so, where and why? Do you think it will be necessary to have multiple access points in this |

|building? |

|I do not believe the AP is in the correct position. I would put it in a closet next to the break room to centralize it, and cut |

|down on needing extra AP’s....
