The Capital of Brazil is Brasilia, positioned in the central part of the country of Brazil. Previously, Rio de Janeiro made the capital of Brazil. Later Brasilia was chosen as the Capital of Brazil for its convenient positioning in the centre-west of Brazil. It is closer to the other regions of Brazil in comparison to Rio de Janeiro. Brasilia has earned fame in the international arena because of its establishment of the principles in the Athens Charter in 1933. UNESCO has enlisted Brasilia as a World Heritage Site.

The Capital of Brazil has a population of nearly 2.3 million. The main Federal Government governs Brazil from Brasilia. The Capital of Brazil houses the President, who resides in the Palacio do Planalto. The Brazilian Supreme Court and the Brazilian Parliament work from theCapital of Brazil. Brasilia is positioned in the Federal District which is bordered by the Brazilian state of Goias. TheCapital of Brazil is not considered as a traditional municipality by the law of Brazil.

The construction of the Capital of Brazil initiated in the year of 1956. Lucio Costa started operating as the prime urban planner whereas Oscar Niemeyer took the responsibility as the lead architect. Formally, Brasilia was announced as the Capital of Brazil in 1960. Thanks to the beautiful architecture of Brasilia that the Capital of Brazil looks like a butterfly or an airplane when looked at it through bird's eye view.

The beautiful monuments and memorials in the Capital of Brazil attract a big number of tourists every year. The tourists never forget to pay a visit to the Monumental Axis located in downtown Brasilia. The Monumental Axis also known as the Ministries Esplanade hosts many Government buildings of interest, memorials and monuments.
