Leadership is aim to influence and guide others into pursuing particular objectives or visions of the future and to stimulate them into wanting to follow. Leader is not necessarily related to hierarchical position because informal leader exist at all levels of organization.

Management means managers perform functions in organizations and hold a particular, formal, title and fulfill a role/ a typical example is a divisional marketing manager, responsible for the marketing of a product range in a geographical territory. The management is often concerned with planning, organizing, and coordination, commanding and controlling the activities of staff.

Summarize the conclusions of trait theories of leadership.

The trait theory of leadership is personality, social, physical, or intellectual traits that differentiate leaders from non-leaders. The Big Five Personality Framework where five groups of traits were found to be consistently present among leaders.

In fact, the leadership traits include extroversion, conscientiousness, openness, agreeableness and emotional intelligence, it is widely accepted that traits do predict leadership.

Openness -Openness reflects the degree of intellectual curiosity, creativity and a preference for novelty and variety.

Conscientiousness –A tendency to show self-discipline, act dutifully, and aim for achievement; planned rather than spontaneous behavior; organized, and dependable.

Extraversion – Energy, positive emotions, assertiveness, sociability and the tendency to seek stimulation in the company of others, and talkativeness.

Agreeableness– A tendency is to be compassionate and cooperative rather than suspicious and antagonistic towards others.

Emotional intelligence – emotional intelligence also refers to the degree of emotional stability and impulse control
