In today's day and age, most teenagers and adults always are busy working. Whether it is just at a local pizza parlor down the street or if it's a major corporation. Unfortunately, for some of those workers, their work environment can be stressful. These conditions can be can be caused by any number of things such as job flexibility, obscure job expectations, or by the co-workers around you. In the article, “Emotional Exhaustion among Employees without Social or Client Contact”, the authors set out to test emotional exhaustion in the workplace by testing certain predictors and examining how each predictor affects the workers when given different job shifts. As we know emotional exhaustion can cause the start of many problems such as injuries on the job. When workers experience burnout, they are emotionally drained and they are not in the mood to work. Therefore, they begin to take short cuts through certain work procedures and possibly lead to an accident that could be fatal. The fact is that, everyone experiences emotional exhaustion and so the main purpose of this study was meant to organize data in an effort to show what factors positively influence emotional exhaustion and what kind of shifts influence this behavior more: day, evening, or night shifts. In addition, this study can ultimately help companies raise productivity levels by bringing awareness to these certain factors which will help to lower the probability of their workers to experience emotional exhaustion.

Within the study, the researchers had multiple hypotheses, while the main purpose was to test certain factors that would influence emotional exhaustion; the researchers had many variables to test. Over all, in the experiment there were five hypotheses conducted and tested which predicted how certain variables such as job demands, positive support, and how different work shifts affect the workers.
