I have a horrendous trauma of a car accident, an accident of not myself nor my family, but my 7 years old dog Richi. I was grown in the countryside of South Korea. The place was so tranquil and peaceful that I’d barely seen cars or buildings on the streets. Sometimes I’d begged my parents to move to bigger cities for my own curiosity, but never pushed them so hard just for one reason. A reason that I could play with my dog unleashed everywhere I go in town. I always unleashed her, because I thought of her as my sister not a pet. One day, as other normal days, I went for a walk with Richi unleashed. Everything was normal except that there was an event in town and was little more crowded than usual. I saw couple cars on streets but was never worried for any accidents. I was terribly mistaken. All in a split second, Richi started to run toward cars and it happened. The tragedy that could only be happened on the movie screen actually happened. As I saw my dog sucked into the car, I instantly knew that she was dead (maybe I hoped her to be dead at a single blow). But she was not dead. She was horribly shaking, hovering between life and death. I couldn’t watch her eyes, because it was clearly my fault who unleashed the dog outside. I also couldn’t take her to the animal hospital, because I clearly knew she would be dead within minutes. At that painful moment both of hers and mine, I decided to kill (end) her. I made an extreme decision to kill her, because it was not only the best choice to resolve the situation, but also to end her agony.

Definition of good involves various meanings. However, what I think the definition of good from my experience is simply being honest to everyone or at least to myself. I was in ethical dilemma whether to watch my dog die painfully or to end her pain by killing her. Perhaps someone would object me that there would have been other choices to consider, such as to take her to the hospital or to call emergency, but again she was clearly...
