IBM Tivoli
The network management software that I have chosen to write about is the IBM Tivoli network management suite. This is a tool that can be used in any SMB or enterprise environment to provide reliable network management in real time. IBM Tivoli is a suite of different software that will be discussed further in the next few paragraphs. All of these software platforms allow you to have the total package with network management. Providing everything from an end-to-end view of IP devices to issue resolution and resource allocation. The different suites are IBM Tivoli Monitoring, IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus, IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager, IBM Tivoli configuration Manager, and IBM Tivoli Network Manager IP Edition. This software suite is available on Windows, Linux, and UNIX platforms.
Tivoli Monitoring
IBM Tivoli Monitoring monitors and manages operating Systems (OS), databases (DBs), and servers in a distributed and host environment. This software suite assists in detecting outages early for better issue resolution with little impact to users. This means less down time and more functionality. Plus it compiles data to predict future problems to help in preparation and speedy down time recovery. It will also identify bottlenecks in the network allowing the administrator to make adjustments to achieve peak performance. Here is an example of the monitoring interface.
