One of the most cantankerous subjects in any civil, formal discussion is that of religion. Many religions have striking similarities, yet small varying formalities create a stubborn division that has become the reoccurring fundamental basis of worldly conflicts throughout history. Recognizing the elements that are the basis of every religion can shed light on those similarities. In addition, identifying their importance can quantify which of the elements play a strong role in essentially defining that religion and its practices.

My personal religious beliefs vary greatly when compared to conventionally practiced religions, however my beliefs still share some of the same core elements that elements that can be found in traditional and contemporary religions. The belief system is an element that plays a strong role within my personal religious beliefs; however they do tend to contradict many of the devout religions that exist. I personally believe a semi-monotheistic few, meaning a single God is the creator of all things. However, according to many theologians and scholars, the fact that I believe God is the Universe, Nature, and everything places me into a category of pantheistic views. I would not disagree with this placement, however if I were to define myself, I would be disposed to say that my belief system is semi-Christian with semi pseudo gnostic views. As a result, I do tend to believe many of the central myths that accompany the Christian religion, and that are depicted in The Bible. However, considering that I feel The Bible is more intended as an ethical guide, I do not discount the central myths of other similar and varying religions, as many of the central myths themselves have uncanny similarities to the morality that is trying to be conveyed.
